Question about Taylormade Golf clubs/Price (value)?
I’ve just started to get into golf and enjoy playing, so I want to invest in a decent set of clubs. I’ve been playing with a friend’s set of Mizuno’s, but I know he wants them back. I was offered a complete set of Taylormade’s (irons: T-Step Ultralights; drivers: R5, V-Steel, and Rescue Mid; and the Putter is a Rossa Suzuka – set includes bag, 20 balls, and all covers), all brand new. He won them in a fundraiser 2 yrs ago and says they are worth $1200 then, and offered them to me at $500 (he doesn’t golf). He’s a good friend, so I dont even know if I should negotiate down if its too high due to age. Is this a good deal? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I think this might be a good deal. I did not see what heads are on the irons, so the value is really an unknown. I would say that those shafts pretty much went on the upper end of the line, so you are probably pretty safe. The V-Steel is very popular with low HC players, the Rescue is a great club (got one) and the Rossa Putters are REALLY, REALLY nice. Overall, at retail (when all was new) this bag would probably be well into the 1K or higher. Give him the $500 AND pay for his round.
