how to remove a fresh grip, 4 reuse?
just bought a cheap lov wedge yesterday, and really want to cut it down about 2 inches, i know i shoulda had them do it there. is there and tips on removing the grip, and saving it? i’ve googled a few tips, like blowing it off with air. tried that on a 13 year old Putter the other day, and all it did was squeel the air back out the hole, for about 20 seconds lol. do new clubs grips remove easially? can i pad a vice and carefully pull it by the shaft. id take it back to them and ask them to pull it off, but i live a couple hours away. im not picky, so i can just cut the end off with the grip on, like i did the putter, and now the putter i didnt like, i couldnt picture having anymore comfortable putter. the rest of my clubs is a matching set, and all of them are very comfortable length to me, so i will not be chopping any more. any clues on how i should pull the grip off of my new $20 lob wedge? thanks
The grip is put on with double sticky tape all the way down. Normally they are scraped off, I don’t think it is possible to take it off whole. IF you really want the grip, cut it off with a utility knife and try to glue it back together. Personally I think you have about a 50% chance of the grip getting back on the “new” club however about a 10% chance that cut and re-glued grip will last more then 3 months. You are probably better off spending the $5 and getting a new grip.
Your option of cutting though the grip and club at the same time, would work, you will be putting alot of stress on the tip of the grip (much more then a putter, since you swing the wedge harder), You may look for some sort of cork or something to put in the tip of the shaft to make sure it does not slip out of your hand.
