Which Putter is the best?
I am looking for a putter and I don’t care about the price. I like the blade Putters and am NOT into mallet putters. I am stuck between PING’s, Scotty Cameron, and TaylorMade’s. Please can you give me some reviews and opinions on these type of putter.
The biased answer to this question, as was mentioned by the previous “answerers,” is Scotty Cameron. While it is true that many tour players use these, and that they are considered the ‘best’ putters in golf (the Ferrari’s of golf, if you will), the true answer is that this question cannot be answered by anyone buy yourself. As Tiger says it best, “The style of putter you use is irrelevant. The important thing is to choose a putter that hefts well in your hands and gives you a feeling of confidence just looking at it.” This is some of the best advice that I’ve ever read regarding what putter to buy, and I strongly recommend that you follow it. I would suggest that you go to a golf store in your area and pull a few putters that ‘just look right’ when you stand over them; those are the putters you want – the ones that give you confidence when you are standing over a four-foot putt on the course.
If, however, you decide that a top-name putter is important to you, then I would suggest the Scotty Cameron (based solely on my personal experience with a Scotty Cameron Putter and a Ping Putter).
To wrap up, I would suggest that you go with whatever putter feels the best to you. I know that’s not necessarily what you were looking for, but I want you to get the putter that feels the best when you’re standing over it – not the putter that everyone else says is the ‘best,’ nor the putter that a large portion of tour players use.
